Up Close and Personal - Macro Views
Over several years I have taken many macro photographs. I love the texture they reveal from a larger subject. I was inspired to create mixed media textile representations of 6 of my favorite photos. Each piece is shown along side the original photo which inspired the art. These six pieces will be shown in France, April 2014 and then on to Birmingham, England for a show during the summer.
Ancient Cactus
On a trip to Texas we saw this very old broad leaf cactus. Battered and beaten, it still grew. The picture of resilience and determination. Peeling Winter Birch
The North Shore in winter, the white panorama broken only by a few leftover fall leaves and the gray of the birch. Its bark peeling to reveal yet more white, like it is trying hard to blend in.
Knotty Situation
The deep knot in the side of a tree. Just a glimpse into the latest years of its existence. Only a hint at the things it has seen.

Weathered Red Door
Walking down the street of a small Texas town, we passed a closed and deserted store. Layers of past glories peeled away to history long ago gone. I'd love to hear its stories. Rusty Leaves
Another Texas trip photo. Walking through an area of scrub brush, I found this interesting single large rock with the beautiful contrast of rust colored leaves. Standing out in the crowd of gray fallen twigs. Cornered
On the park grounds in a small East Texas town is an historic log cabin. The logs sun bleached to a pearly gray. But in the corner are the green spiky plants, perhaps just as they were when the cabin was originally built.
